Alex Martin Time Machine Ref and Thumbs

So I figured I'd post up early and just update with progress

Here's my ref so far:

My idea is to do a more traditional steampunkish time machine, but have the twist have more to do with it's location/creator

Instead of being created by some brilliant victorian scientist it will be created in modern day out of antique furniture and machinery and modern computer parts (overlayed with wood/copper to look more steampunk) by an overweight, basement dwelling, steampunk enthusiast. Which of course also calls the functionality of the machine into question.

I think this choice of scene will help me with two things I've been lacking in my scenes, use of reference (which by extension includes proper proportions and material definition) and clutter, as most of my scenes have tended to feel rather empty and I have trouble getting things to look messy and unorganized and full.

I'm planning on the main/only light source being the soft glow from a pair of computer moniters as well

Also I have to agree with Gino, Picasa is extremely useful for creating ref collages fast rather than hand placing them into a photoshop document or something.
